To ensure a smooth rental process and prevent future disputes, we would like to remind all drivers and fleet managers of our vehicle handover policy. Following these steps helps protect you from incorrect damage claims.
Before you drive
Regardless of whether a vehicle is delivered or collected from a branch, it is essential to perform your own inspection before driving.
- Inspect the Vehicle: Carefully check the entire vehicle for any pre-existing damage.
- Take Photos: Take time-stamped photos of any damage you find, as well as the odometer reading.
- Submit Documentation: Email these photos to rentaldamage@jct600.co.uk within two hours of receiving the vehicle.
This documentation is vital for us to confidently challenge incorrect damage claims. We strongly recommend that a driver be present for all vehicle deliveries so these photos can be taken and sent within the two-hour window.
Collection and return policy
While we can arrange delivery and collection services, we encourage drivers to collect and return vehicles directly at rental branches whenever possible. This practice provides several key benefits:
- Cost Savings: It helps you avoid delivery and collection fees.
- Formal Handover: It increases the likelihood of a formal vehicle appraisal with a rental agent from the branch.
- Reduced Disputes: It minimises the risk of aborted collection charges and liability disputes for the period between off-hire and collection.
Please do not rely on the supplier to note pre-existing damage. We have encountered situations where a representative assured a customer that minor damage was acceptable, only for a different representative to file a claim upon return. Your own thorough inspection and photographic evidence are your best protection.
