Do you know the last time you checked your tyres? Or if your spare tyre is still road safe?
Only 45% of drivers check their tyre pressure monthly, and 1 in 5 breakdowns on UK motorways and A-roads are tyre-related.
Tyre Safety Month is a campaign to raise awareness for tyre safety, especially as we head into the colder months. TyreSafe, the founders of Tyre Safety Month, have launched their campaign titled ACT. ACT represents each of the key aspects of your tyres that you should be checking regularly.

Air Pressure: Underinflated or overinflated tyres can affect the drive and handling of your car. You can easily check your tyre pressure using a tyre pressure gauge. Your vehicle’s handbook should list the correct pressure settings for your tyres.
Condition: You should be regularly checking the condition of your tyres, keeping an eye out for splits and anything foreign embedded in the rubber. If left untreated, these damages can lead to a puncture. Make sure you’re speaking your spare tyre too, that way, in case you need it, it’ll be ready to go.
Tread Depth: A tyre depth gauge will help to assess the depth of each tyre. In the UK, the legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre’s width and around its entire circumference.
Kwik Fit have a helpful video explaining how to check your tyres, which can be viewed below.
