Our People: Rebecca Eggington

Head of Retail at JCT600 VLS

Rebecca Eggington (or Becky to those of you who know her) has been Head of Retail since it was formed last year and oversees the team who deliver our salary sacrifice schemes, here’s what she had to tell us…

Tell us a bit about you, your career to date

I started working in vehicle leasing back in 2008 when a move up to Leeds meant I needed to find a new job, it was by chance I ended up in the industry but having worked in various roles from new business to implementation, I found my feet managing account management teams. I have worked on some of the very first salary sacrifice schemes and navigated many changes that the government has thrown our way to keep the schemes relevant today. Vehicle leasing is not anywhere I would have imagined working but there is always plenty of variety to keep things interesting.

What is your role at JCT600 VLS?

My current role is Head of Retail, where I manage the team and customers that operate employee led schemes. I also sit on the leadership team within VLS and get involved in new business, implementations, internal projects and event planning.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Starts with a coffee for sure but there will always be interaction with the team at the beginning of the day, setting the intentions and making sure everyone is focussed on the day ahead. I will usually have a mix of customer calls or prospective customer calls, if there is an ongoing project then there will be planning meetings thrown in too. I work closely with our marketing manager to prepare our scheme communications and other scheme activities. There is usually an element of reporting that will need to be completed and of course throughout the day regular check ins with the team.

What do you love most about your role?

With the retail team being a relatively new team within JCT600 VLS I love the fact that I have been able to influence how everything works and operates, I have been able to design the schemes and the team from the ground up. Planning and running events has been a recent exciting challenge which is really rewarding when you see all of your plans come to life. But perhaps my most favourite part of the job is the people that I get to work with, we are a true family and everyone works together to achieve our goals.

What is your career highlight to date?

I can’t put my finger on one highlight but there is a certain thrill you get when you win a new customer and I am lucky enough to have been involved in a few of those projects over the last 15 years and then when JCT600 VLS received Leasing Company of Year award – it’s extremely rewarding for industry experts to recognise all of the hard work that is put in across the business.

How would you describe the culture at JCT600 VLS?

It feels like an extension of your family, you are surrounded by people who genuinely care.

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I have a first class degree in Fine Art – it’s worlds away from vehicle leasing but I try and bring a flair of creativity into both my home and work!
