Company Car in Action 2025

Company Car in Action 2025 proved itself to be an unmissable event. Held at the Millbrook Proving Ground, the event space had 4 unique circuits and over 38 manufacturer brands attending. With a thousand-plus attendees, this exciting event gave fleet and automotive experts the chance to test drive some of the latest models and learn about the future of the industry.

Key Vehicles

Several key manufacturers showcased their latest models, and we took a closer look at some of the best-performing and most in-demand among them.

MG S5: MG has positioned itself as a competitively priced option for some time. As the first fully electric hatchback car, this vehicle has a lot to prove. While not the same size as the larger SUVs available, this hatchback still offers an impressive range (up to 329 miles), with a distinctive design. The infotainment system isn’t as detailed as other options in this price range, but it still offers a comprehensive list of options.

Tesla Model Y: Instantly recognisable, yet completely redesigned, this model breathes new life into the Tesla brand. Tesla is a great choice for urban drivers, and this car drives smoother and quieter than previous models, and features can be charged up to 166 miles in as little as 15 minutes. With an immersive soundscape and ultimate comfort from any seat, luxury is the only way to accurately describe this vehicle.

Audi Q4: Prioritising both aesthetic and functionality is what Audi does best, and the Q4 is no exception. This model is a combination of hatchback and SUV, a great choice for drivers who want more space. The aerodynamic design not only enhances the movement of the vehicle but also stands out and gives the model an impressive silhouette. This model features rapid charging, allowing you to charge from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.

Renault Scenic: Perfect for those who need a hybrid between family and commuter car, the Scenic has been designed for life and living. Also, a great choice for drivers who are more environmentally conscious, the Scenic is built using recycled materials and is 89% recyclable. The one-pedal function also lends itself well to urban driving, allowing you to slow your vehicle to a complete stop without having to use the brake pedal. Energy saving is at the heart of this model.

Ford Explorer: While Ford may be a longstanding brand, this model is modern and new. Perfect for families, the Explorer has a Motorway Range of up to 292 miles and features a sleek body that still has that essential Ford look to it. Drive with peace of mind and comfort thanks to the 5-star safety rating provided by Euro NCAP. The interior has been designed with storage and functionality in mind, allowing you to fit everything but the kitchen sink.

Event Highlights

Soaking up the sunshine wasn’t the only thing on our minds (although it certainly helped, especially being outside all day). Test driving these vehicles allowed us to truly understand their power, capabilities, and performance so we can recommend the best fit for all our drivers.

UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground is one of the largest vehicle testing centres in Europe, and its various circuits allow drivers to really test the car in all environments. The test drive starts out on the Alpine Route, with more than four miles of rural driving. This course features tight turns and varying gradients, covering every possible scenario in UK rural driving. This route was perfect for testing vehicle braking, handling and drivability on realistic country roads.

The High Speed Bowl prioritises motorway speed. With five lanes and over two miles of road, we were able to see how these fleet cars handle speed, lane-assist and stability, mimicking that of a real motorway, all without having to leave the main exhibition area. As many of our drivers commute up and down the motorways of this country, this created an opportunity for us to better understand how these models would fare with high levels of noise and speed expected when commuting.

Networking and Connecting

In between the test drives and new models, we also got the chance to connect and catch up with our Account Managers and representatives from different manufacturers. It was great to see familiar faces and hear what our suppliers are up to, and discuss how we can expect these exciting updates to benefit VLS,  our customers and drivers. There was plenty of time to talk, with dedicated booths set up for each manufacturer. From smoothies to coffee and cake, the good company and refreshments made for a memorable day.

Company Car in Action provided plenty of confidence for the future of EVs. JCT600 VLS is committed to our pledge of providing the best services for our customers, and events like this enhance our knowledge in the EV space, allowing us to pass this on to our customers.
