2026 Kia EV4 Road Review: Range, Price, and Performance Tested

If you’re bored with every electric car looking like the same shape, just different sizes, the Kia EV4 Fastback is going to be a breath of fresh air. It’s low, it’s sharp, and it feels like Kia is finally giving us a nice silhouette without compromising on the interior.

Here’s the lowdown on why this might be the smartest move for your next daily drive.

Kia isn’t playing around with the batteries here. You’ve got two solid choices:

  • The Commuter: A 58.3 kWh battery that gets you about 235 miles. Perfect if you have a charger at home and mostly do local runs.
  • The Road-Tripper:The 81.4 kWh. This one hits up to 330 miles, which is plenty for a trek from London to Manchester without sweating the battery bar.

You can also jump from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. It’s just enough time to grab a coffee and stretch your legs before you’re back on the road.

It’s front-wheel drive with 201 hp, so while it won’t beat a supercar off the line, it feels incredibly comfortable in traffic. The real magic, though, is the i-Pedal 3.0. You can basically drive through stop-and-go city traffic using just the accelerator. Lift off, and the car brings itself to a perfect, smooth halt. It’s a total game-changer for your left foot.

It’s also packed with sensors that do everything from emergency braking to helping you park. The Highway Driving Assist is a standout; it’s “Level 2” tech, meaning it handles the steering and speed on the motorway, even slowing down automatically when the speed limit drops. It takes the stress out of those long, boring motorway drives.

Interior

Stepping inside feels like jumping five years into the future. You get this massive Panoramic Wide Display that’s basically three screens in one (speed, climate, and maps).

  • It has Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (as it should!), and Digital Key 2.0, which means you can leave your keys at home and just use your phone to unlock and start the car.
  • There’s a built-in AI buddy to help with nav and tunes, and the whole car stays fresh with over-the-air updates, so it gets better as it ages.

If you’re a salary sacrifice driver, listen up: this is where the EV4 truly wins.

  • Starting with a competitive price point, it consistently delivers a premium experience that doesn’t compromise on quality.
  • If you go for the top GT-Line S, you get Vehicle-to-Load (V2L). You can plug in your work laptop or phone with no worries about draining the battery. It’s basically a giant power bank on wheels.
  • Car Schemes Account Manager Ryan Noble says: “It’s one of the comfiest cars I’ve driven and offers a seamless drive every time.”

If you want a car that looks like a concept vehicle but costs less than a standard hatchback, the EV4 is a no-brainer. It’s stylish, competitively priced to run via a salary sacrifice scheme, and has enough tech to keep everyone happy.
