The government has released its latest figures on benefit-in-kind statistics for 2014-15, showing that the number of company car drivers increased by 1% to 950,000.
These drivers contributed an average of £1,430 in company car tax, a total of £1.37bn for the Exchequer. This figure was 5% higher than in 2013/14 and is expected to rise by 8% to £1.48bn for 2015/16. In contrast, Company Car Tax revenues fell by nearly 5% between 2007 and 2013.
The same report says that 82% of company cars are diesel and 18% are petrol, with an estimated 1,700 pure electric vehicles also provided.
